Jazz Rock Storytelling
Drummer, composer, and storyteller Sean Noonan presents in "Set the Hammer Free" a collection of high energy Jazz/Punk songs from his Irish roots and beyond. Noonan's latest album can be described as grandiose, intoxicating, sui generis, blending passionate storytelling, raw power-jamming jazz/rock guitars, shape-shifting improvisations, dense soundscapes, funked and punked up drum and bass grooves. "The drummer and composer Sean Noonan approaches postmodern jazz and world music from the same angle of self-discovery ... he manages to make his pieces speak coherently, and in a unified voice." - The New York Times Sean Noonan's Brewed by Noon's latest album release "Set the Hammer Free" that is a fermentation of stories, Art Rock songs and high energy Punk-Jazz from the New York underground that travels to and from America, Ireland and West Africa. Since the release of "Stories to Tell" and "Boxing Dreams", Noonan has gathered a collection of legends, stories, and songs that are improvised and composed from the drum set, in the fashion of an "Irish griot". Inspired by Irish playwright Samuel Beckett's theatre of the absurd, Noonan uses these ingredients to fuel his new band that consists of the next generation of New York improvisors, Aram Bajakian (guitar), Alex Marcelo (keyboard), and Shanir Blumenkranz (bass). Sean Noonan's Brewed by Noon truly creates a hefty brew.
